Overview
Odoo ERP licensing in plain language
Odoo is one of the most flexible business systems you can buy. Accounting, sales, inventory, manufacturing, HR and a website can all run in one place, and you can start with one app and add more later. That flexibility also makes Odoo ERP licensing confusing, because the price depends on the edition, the hosting and how many people sign in.
There are two editions. Odoo Community is free and open source. Odoo Enterprise is a paid Odoo subscription that adds more apps, a mobile interface, Odoo Studio, official upgrades and support. On top of that you choose where it runs: Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or your own servers.
We help you make those choices with your real processes in mind, supply your Odoo subscription as an authorised Odoo reseller and set the system up so your team can use it from the first week.
What our Odoo ERP licensing service covers:
- Odoo Enterprise subscriptions, standard and custom plans
- Odoo Online for quick, low maintenance starts
- Odoo.sh for custom modules and staging
- On premise Odoo for full control
- Upgrades between major Odoo versions
- Moving from Odoo Community to Odoo Enterprise
What we supply
Odoo ERP licensing options we help you choose
Odoo’s choices are simple once someone lays them out side by side.
Odoo Community edition
Odoo Community is free and open source. It suits technical teams who can host and maintain it themselves and do not need the extra Odoo Enterprise apps or official upgrades.
Odoo Enterprise subscription
Odoo Enterprise adds full accounting features, Odoo Studio, the mobile app, more integrations and Odoo’s own upgrade service. It is priced per user per month or year.
Odoo Online hosting
Odoo Online is hosted by Odoo itself. It is the quickest way to start and needs no server work, but it does not accept your own custom code modules.
Odoo.sh for custom modules
Odoo.sh is Odoo’s cloud platform for companies that need their own modules. It gives you staging copies, backups and a proper way to test changes before they go live.
Odoo on your own servers
Run Odoo Enterprise or Odoo Community on your own servers or cloud account when data must stay in a particular place or you need full control of the setup.
Right sizing your Odoo users
Every member of staff who works inside Odoo needs a paid seat, but customers and suppliers using the Odoo portal do not. We count your Odoo users carefully before you commit.

Choosing well
Odoo Community or Odoo Enterprise: how to decide
Odoo Community is a strong product and many companies run it well. But free software is not the same as free to run. You will need someone to host it, back it up, apply security fixes and upgrade it each year, and some features that businesses take for granted, such as full accounting and the mobile app, are only in Odoo Enterprise.
Odoo Enterprise costs money every month, but it brings official upgrades from one version to the next, support from Odoo and a richer set of apps. For most companies without their own developers, that ends up cheaper overall. We will tell you honestly which one we think fits.
One more point that often gets missed: you can start small. Many of our Odoo clients begin with invoicing and stock, live with it for a few months, and only then add manufacturing, payroll or a website. Because every app shares the same database, adding one later does not mean moving data or retraining everyone from scratch. It simply means a few more Odoo users and a slightly larger Odoo subscription when the business is ready for it.
Questions that decide your Odoo edition:
- Do you have developers in house?
- Do you need full accounting and reporting?
- Will staff use Odoo on phones?
- How often will you want to upgrade?
- Do you need custom modules?
Upgrades
Keeping your Odoo subscription up to date
Odoo releases a major version every year. On Odoo Online, upgrades happen for you. On Odoo.sh and on premise, upgrades need planning, especially if you have custom modules that must be rewritten for the new version. Leave it too long and the jump becomes expensive.
We plan upgrades as part of your Odoo subscription, test them on a copy of your data first and move you across when nothing is busy. Odoo lists its current plans on the official Odoo pricing page, and we can explain how each one applies to you.
Why ApexGenTech
Why work with us on Odoo ERP licensing
We are a software house, so we can do more than sell an Odoo subscription. We build custom modules when Odoo does not quite fit, connect Odoo to other systems and help you decide when a custom tool would be simpler. Our custom software development team handles that work.
If you are a smaller retailer in Pakistan that mainly needs fast billing and tax compliant invoices, our own Dijan ERP may suit you better than a full Odoo setup, and we will say so. For larger systems, compare Odoo with SAP licensing before you decide.
