The problem
Why software licensing gets expensive
Software licensing rarely goes wrong in one big moment. It goes wrong slowly. A manager buys a few Adobe seats on a company card. Someone adds Microsoft 365 licences for a project team and nobody removes them afterwards. An old Oracle database gets moved to new hardware with more cores. Each step is small, but after three years the company is paying for software it does not use and running software it has not paid for.
Both problems cost money. Unused software licences are simply wasted budget. Unlicensed software is a risk that can become a large bill if a vendor asks for an audit, and pirated copies are a security problem as well as a legal one, because they often carry malware and never receive updates.
Good software licensing fixes both. It means knowing what you own, knowing what you run, and buying through a supplier who keeps the two in step.
Five common software licensing problems:
- Unused seats left on former staff
- Several teams buying the same tool separately
- Servers licensed for fewer cores than they now have
- Renewals that roll over at a higher price unnoticed
- Pirated or grey market keys bought to save money

Licensing models
Software license models explained in plain language
Vendors count usage in different ways. Knowing which model applies is the first step to paying the right amount.
| Model | How it is counted | Typical vendors | What to watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Per user subscription | Each named person needs a licence, paid monthly or yearly | Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Adobe, Odoo | Remove leavers quickly; check whether shared accounts are allowed. |
| Per core or per processor | Physical or virtual processor cores on the server | Windows Server, SQL Server, Oracle Database, VMware | Adding cores or moving to new hardware can change what you owe. |
| Named user plus or CAL | People or devices that connect to a server | Oracle, Windows Server, SAP | Indirect use through another system can still count. |
| Perpetual licence | One payment for a version you keep, with optional support | CorelDRAW, InPage, Windows Server, SQL Server | Support and upgrades usually cost extra each year. |
| Pay as you go | What you consume each month | AWS, Azure, Google Cloud | Costs grow quietly without alerts and regular reviews. |
| Enterprise agreement | A multi year contract across many products | Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, Adobe | Annual true ups and minimum commitments. |
Vendors change their rules from time to time. We confirm the current terms for your products in every quote.
Software asset management
Software asset management that keeps you audit ready
Software asset management, often shortened to SAM, is the habit of keeping an accurate record of every licence you own and every installation you run. It sounds like admin, and it is, but it is the admin that saves you when Microsoft, Oracle, SAP or Autodesk sends a letter asking for a licence review.
We build that record for you, keep it current and compare it against your contracts at least once a year. The international standard for this work is ISO/IEC 19770 for IT asset management, and we follow its principles without burying you in paperwork.
If you already use Nexora, every licence and renewal date can live in the Nexora asset register next to your hardware. If a vendor review does arrive, our security audit team can help you prepare the evidence calmly.
What software asset management gives you:
- A single list of every software license you own
- Installations matched to entitlements, vendor by vendor
- Renewal dates in one calendar with reminders
- Gaps fixed quietly before any audit starts
- A yearly report your finance team can read
Genuine licences
Why we only supply genuine licences
Cheap keys sold online are tempting. Some are volume keys taken from another company, some are trial keys, and some are simply stolen. They may activate today and stop working next month, and they leave you with no proof of purchase if a vendor asks. In some countries, including Pakistan, unlicensed copies of popular software such as InPage and CorelDRAW are very common, which is exactly why customers ask us for proof that what they buy is real.
We only supply genuine licences as an authorised reseller, and every order comes with the vendor documentation you need. If a deal looks far cheaper than ours, we will happily explain why.
One supplier
Software licensing on one quote and one renewal calendar
Most companies buy software licences from five or more vendors, each with its own portal, renewal date and invoice format. We bring them together. You get one point of contact, one quote that shows every vendor clearly, and one renewal calendar so nothing renews by surprise.
Because we are a software house as well as a licensing supplier, we can also help with what comes next: moving to Microsoft 365, setting up Google Workspace, connecting SAP or Odoo to your other systems through our custom software development team, or keeping everything running under a support agreement. And since licences protect nothing on their own, our cybersecurity services check that the software you pay for is configured safely.
Whether your team writes software license, software licence or simply asks for a quote, the process is the same and the answer comes from a person who knows the products. Our general FAQ covers how we work, and every order follows our terms of service.

Yes. Our software asset management work gives you an accurate record of what you own and run, so you can answer a vendor review with evidence rather than guesswork.
